Company Overview
Conforma Clad Inc. is a leading provider of severe wear solutions to high performance industrial customers around the world. Our customers value long-lasting parts, consistent quality and process controls, and minimizing downtime in order to increase productivity and lower costs.
Our unique brazed tungsten carbide cladding combines durability with extended wear life. The metallurgical bond created between the braze alloy and the steel substrate and tungsten carbide particles ensures durable wear protection, while the cladding’s high tungsten carbide content significantly prolongs component life.
Compared to other wear protection materials, Conforma Clad provides premium wear protection with less added weight and cross-section loss. Our cladding’s uniform consistency allows for reliable wear life extrapolation based on initial and incremental wear measurements.
Our customers often experience increased productivity and cost savings by replacing a critical part that wears out in weeks or months with a Conforma Clad part that lasts four to ten times longer. In some cases, our cladding shows no measurable wear, even after years of use.
We offer complete wear solution services, including on-site wear diagnostics, tailored solution engineering, complete in-house fabrication in our 50,000 square foot state-of-the-art production facility, and installation and wear monitoring support.
For many customers, we stock finished inventory of standard products. We are located less than 20 miles from UPS’s Worldport air hub in Louisville, Kentucky, allowing us to deliver parts anywhere in the United States the next day, and in most cases, worldwide within 72 hours.
Our engineers, technologists and production team routinely develop custom solutions to unique wear problems. More than 100 Conforma Clad associates are committed to providing high quality products and services to every customer.

The below table summarizes some of our primary markets, along with a brief description of popular applications and competitive advantages our customers enjoy.

Markets Applications The Conforma Clad Advantage
Oil & Gas Drilling Radial bearings, downhole tools, surface equipment Drill longer and faster, lower cost-per-foot drilled
Power Generation Fans, boiler components, pulverizers, conveyance equipment Longer outage cycles and lower maintenance costs, avoid downtime, more revenue generation
Plastics Compounding Extrusion Twin-screw extruder barrels Maintain tight tolerances even with aggressive resins, in order to increase throughput and lower the cost-per-pound
Petfood Extrusion Twin-screw extruder barrels, single-screw extruder barrels, screw segments, and ancillary equipment dies Maintain tight tolerances even with aggressive ingredients, in order to keep consistent quality while increasing throughput and lowering the cost-per-pound
Aquafeed Extrusion Single-screw extruder barrels, screw segments, ancillary equipment
dies Consistent quality and pellet density with high throughput
Pulp & Paper Pumps, conveyance, fans Lower cost, reliable power
General Industrial
(Chemical & Mineral Processing, Steel Processing, Mining & Construction, etc.) Pumps, screws, conveyance, debarker tips, wear plates, elbows, shear bars Increase productivity, avoid downtime

Conforma Clad offers severe wear solutions that are unmatched in providing protection against abrasion, erosion, corrosion or any combination of the three. We believe there is no other coating that can match our level of protection against multiple modes of wear. Our wear solutions are based on materials technology innovations and proprietary know-how developed over the last 30 years.

What makes our process superior to other wear protection methods?
* Excellent abrasion, erosion and corrosion resistance
* Longer lasting and more durable than sprays, chrome carbide weld overlays and other alternative wear protection
* Cladding will not detach from equipment because of the strong metallurgical bond (70,000 psi)
* Cladding can be applied to complex geometries and inside diameters, and to areas unreachable by other methods (areas out of the line-of-sight)
* Cladding has no interconnected porosity, offering superior corrosion and impact resistance
* A thin layer of our brazed tungsten carbide cladding gives the same wear resistance as a much thicker application of weld overlay, allowing cladding applications in areas typically not protected because of weight restrictions
* Cladding properties are consistent throughout, creating uniform wear-rates and continuous heat transfer

Conforma Clad vs. Other Protective Methods

Many wear protection methods provide adequate defense against either erosion, abrasion, or corrosion, but only Conforma Clad brazed tungsten carbide cladding resists wear in severe environments where a combination of two or more modes of wear are present.
