Polar Process

The use of one or more pairs of augers combined with the transversely mounted power feed roll results in product being stuffed into the augers and down their tunnels into the positive displacement pump at a controlled rate. The action of the augers and the power feed roll results in the burping back of entrained air such that it is a solid product stream that enters the positive displacement pump. This is so important when the system is being used for accurately batching to a vessel or blender.

The positive displacement pump that we supply on your 'Polar' will be selected to address both the process need and your company's preference or we will use a pump that exists in your plant provided the application will allow it. In most cases, the PD pump is mounted on its own hinged frame which simply rotates out of the way to allow access to the augers for cleaning and then rotates back on re-assembly to accurately mate with the 'Polar' front flange.

If your need is for a batching system, we can supply your 'Polar' with the necessary controls to allow you to simply dial in the amount of product required at a specific vessel or blender, initiate flow and walk away. In some cases, the accuracy offered by counting the revolutions of the coupling to the PD pump will be enough or we can build a Coriolis type mass flowmeter into the system for refined, intelligent and analytical accuracy.

When the pumping of blocks of product is desired, we can supply your 'Polar' with its own staging conveyor and infeed chute with block-sensing prox switches so that the operator can simply load up enough product for a given period of time and leave the system to operate itself in response to the demands downstream and alert him when it's time to reload. Lexan shrouds and safety prox switches are included, as desired or required.
