The Diamond America Extruder Advantages

Diamond America Extruders offer the following unique features
that reduce downtime, improve throughput, and maintain highest
production levels:

Front Barrel Support
   Heavy-duty barrel support provides rigid alignment while allowing
   for thermal expansion. Tap bolts provide bi-directional adjustment
   for proper barrel alignment.

Spill-Proof Easy Close Hopper Shut-Off Slide
   Our feed throat is designed so that when the shut-off slide is closed
   the material that is displaced is moved to an auxiliary cavity in the feed
   throat and feeds into the screw rather than being dumped onto the floor.
   This design makes the slide gate easy to operate and virtually jam proof.

Blown Fuse Indicators
   Type J dual element fuses with blown fuse indicators. Should a fuse blow
   the cover over the fuse has an indicator light, which comes on indicating
   a blown fuse. This feature is a time saving for your maintenance personnel.

Easy Access to Drive Sleeve
   Removable guards allow for easy access to the drive sleeve area
   for screw installation or powder seal maintenance.

Hopper Drain with Metering Gate
   Hopper can be opened and closed easily while material drains
   from the hopper.

Twin Lever Gate
   The Twin Lever Gate has no heavy clamp halves to lift, resin drool does
   not catch in the clam shell. The twin lever design offers easy operation
   while still providing a positive seal to prevent leakage.

Barrel Thermocouples
   The barrel thermocouples are a one piece construction that plug into
   the outside of the cabinet making replacement easier.

Circuit Breakers
   Circuit breakers are standard on all downstream zones.

Heater Burnout Detection
   LEDs are used instead of ammeters to indicate heater band failure.
   Should heater power drop by more than 30% on any zone, that zone's
   LED no longer illuminates thus indicating heater band failure.


Extruder Reconditioning 

Diamond America’s extruder reconditioning program includes:
   • Control retrofit.
   • Electrical Cabinet reconditioning.
   • Gearbox inspection and repair.
   • Barrel and screw replacement or remanufacture.
   • Sheet metal replacement.
   • Drive and motor repair or replacement.
   • Repaint to customer specifications.
   • In most cases, reconditioned extruders can be wet tested
      prior to shipment.
