Why are bimetallic barrels used today?
The today's processing of modern plastics with fillers and fibers requires modern machine equipment. In the area of the plastification process this was taken into consideration through the development of most up-to-date wear resistant systems.

As for barrels the today well-known bimetallic barrels has taken advantage over nitrided barrels. The favorable points are:

- Lower wear resulting in higher process stability
- Combination of wear and corrosion resistance
- Based on the processed plastics, the correct wear protection system is chosen.

Bimetallic cylinder inlays

Xaloy is offering various bimetallic inlays against all types of wear:

- Abrasion
- Corrosion
- Combined wear of corrosion and abrasion

Depending on the cylinder and screw material properties certain combination of the two are not suitable, such as a nitrated cylinder and a tungstan carbide screw hardfacing.

Single barrel: Production parameter
- Inner diameter: 18 - 610 mm
- Length: up to 6000 mm or 33 xID (onepiece)
up to 7750 mm (multipart)

Twin barrel production parameter
- Inner diameter: 18 -200 mm
- Length: 2000 mmm or 20xD

The blank barrel is coated with an alloy (via spin casting) and then finished.

We can now offer you a wide range of products.

Xaloy screw hardfacings

We are able to weld all current screw hard-facing alloys. In addition to the standard alloys such as Colmonoy 56 we offer you our special developed proprietary hard-facings.

Xaloy screw protection
For some applications the screw needs to be better protected. Xaloy offers you:

X8000: Full protection of the whole geometry
PVD Coatings: Physical Vapour Deposition Coatings based TiN, CrN and Multi-layer processes
Appropriate heat treatment

If you need more output or better melt quality you may choose one of our proven standard profiles or ask for a specific screw design.

- Screws made of nitrided, heat treated or stainless steel:
Diameter: 20 - 420 mm
Length: max. 7'000 mm (one-part)
max. 10'000 mm (multi-part)

- Tool steel screws (fully hardened):
Diameter: 20 - 100 mm
Length: max. 3'000 mm (one-part)

Screw rebuilding

We can re-establish any screw for you (except fully hardened ones) to its correct original state as new.

Xaloy Nozzles, system Herzog
As of 1st January 02 Xaloy is esclusively distributing the nozzles from Herzog in the America and Asia.

The comprehensive product range consists of:

- The nex generation of Needle Shut-Off nozzles (Typ HP)
- Standard shut off nozzles
- Special nozzles (Elastomer, MuCell and bolt shut off nozzles)
